Clarkson Rooms

Babies Room

Age: 6 weeks – 2 years Staff/Child Ratio: 1:4

During the early months of life babies are totally dependent on others, they are learning to anticipate events and to communicate their individual needs in order to thrive and learn. Our Staff work to establish an intimate, responsive and trusting relationship with each child. Babies need the security of knowing their emotional and physical needs will be met, this we strive to do in our baby’s room.

Parent communication books are available and a daily information board with sleep, meals and bottle times is available every day for parents to look over on arriving to collect your child.

Daily Routine

We aim to care for your precious baby as you would at home. We ask parents to share their home routines with us on enrolment to the centre as well as during daily discussions with you on your arrival and departure from the centre to allow us to provide continuity of care for your baby. The less we change their routine the better it is for you and your baby.

Toddlers are at an age where they are gaining control of their world by exploring limits, cause and effect. Toddlers are active and curious, determined to become competent and to make sense of happenings. They thrive on opportunities and on being encouraged into exploration and creativity. In our toddlers room children’s learning is developed through their play and interactions with other children. The environment is set up for equitable opportunities for learning.

Parents are able to make an appointment with their child’s qualified carer to discuss any aspect of their child’s care.

Kindy room

Age: 3-5 years Staff/Child Ratio: 1:10

It is important to create opportunities for the young child to experience new challenges, co-operative adventures and long term projects. As staff we provide and resource the environment for such challenges and support children’s widening interests and problem solving capabilities. Young children are developing their awareness of themselves as competent confident learners and at Horizons they are encouraged to learn with and alongside others.

Our Kindy children are able to sleep/rest on mattresses and the Centre provides linen and blankets. If children no longer require a rest, supervised quiet activities are provided.

A daily information board with sleep times and meals is available every day for parents to look over on arriving to collect your child.
